My Story
My life has been a journey of peeling back layers, exploring a desire to truly know myself and discovering new depths of vitality, joy and power that lie within. Growing up, I knew the importance of good health, but I struggled to consistently translate this intellectual knowledge into my daily experience. Knowing what I could do to feel my best, but not embodying it, kept me feeling ungrounded and shaky in my confidence and self-worth.
After years of a one-way dialogue with my body, moving quickly, demanding productivity, and rationalizing what I felt to the point of not feeling, I began a daily practice of taking time to gently check in with myself. I spent time, however small, tuning into my body and practicing being honest about what I found—not an easy feat. I soon realized how disconnected I had become from my compass and most reliable teller of truth. As I exercised a willingness to learn, rather than run, from discomfort and stress in my life, I discovered that I have all of the tools within to cultivate alignment with that which allows me to feel my best.
Re-learning how to value and align with what I feel in my heart and body and to be more discerning about the thoughts that flow through my mind is a never-ending journey. Making the choice each day to be on this path allows me to create a life that is more in sync with my values and inner compass. As a result, there is more ease, flow, fulfillment, joy, confidence, and clarity in my work and life.
Having experienced first-hand the powerful shift that is possible in our experience of life, and realizing that I was not alone in my feelings of disconnection and ungroundedness, I am passionate about partnering with organizations to support their people in cultivating this transformation within their own lives. I founded OmBody Health in 2014 to use my eclectic background and extensive experience to deliver workplace wellbeing and educational programs that guide busy people back into the driver’s seats of their lives through self-care, mindfulness, embodiment, and inner coherence. Because when this happens, we’re able to be much more intentional about the way we show up and the impact we have not only on ourselves, but also on our organizations, our communities, and our beloved planet earth.
My Philosophy
One of my guiding beliefs is that when we are healthy as individuals, we contribute to the collective health and healing of our families, workplaces, communities and planet. This means that getting to know and nurturing our bodies, minds, hearts and souls through self-care and inquiry is a beautiful act of love, not only for ourselves, but for our shared humanity and home.
We live in a culture that teaches us that if we want to be healthier and feel better, we must focus primarily on diet and exercise. My personal wellbeing journey has taught me that, while important, this is just one piece of the equation. So much more than what we eat or how much we move, our physical, mental and emotional wellbeing is determined by how we show up for ourselves, how in tune and aligned we are with that which lights us up: our core values, which I believe are informed by the soul.
I believe there is no one-size fits all approach to health and healing. True wellness is multi-dimensional, individual, and requires daily practice. When we courageously prioritize what we need to be and feel our best by listening to and honoring the teacher within, we start to access a deeper level of coherence, trust and confidence within ourselves, and we are able to be more intentional in how we show up in the world.
