OmKids uses the research based Mindful Schools curriculum to support children achieve the following:
With reports of behavior issues on the rise in Maine, now is the time to support our future generations by giving them the gift of self-awareness and self-love.
The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation did a 20 year study that found a connection between a child’s social emotional skills in Kindergarten and success later in life, including receiving high school and college diploma’s, and attaining full time employment by the age of 25.
“This study shows that helping children develop social and emotional skills is one of the most important things we can do to prepare them for a healthy future,” said Kristin Schubert, program director at the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, which funded the research. “From an early age, these skills can determine whether a child goes to college or prison, and whether they end up employed or addicted.”
With the understanding that caregivers and teachers are over-worked, over-tired, and over-stressed (and children are over-stimulated, over-tired, and over-scheduled!), OmKids brings the experience needed to support children in this essential facet of learning. When children have adequate coping skills, life feels more manageable and learning becomes less of a struggle.
This program supports children and those who care for them to reconnect with themselves, their communities, and their environments with kindness and curiosity. OmKids builds empathy, strength, and resilience in our children, we hope you join this effort!
This program has been developed from trainings through Little Flower Yoga and Mindful Schools. To learn more about program options for your organization, please contact Lee Sowles at omKidsME@gmail.com, or call at 207-619-1608.
